President’s
Corner- July
Summer is in full swing now even though we have
been waiting for the thermometer to get up to where it belongs and take
some of the chill out. Hopefully most of us have been enjoying this
season anyway and we still have some time left ….so Carp Diem!
The August General Meeting, which is still held
outside at Halmich Park, will feature the theme of a Chili/Stew
Cook-Off. Those attending are encouraged to bring and serve their
favorite concoction and we will vote the best.
Look for information in this newsletter regarding
a PICNIC on Saturday, August 21st. We have a country-like location and
are planning lots of fun and cheer.
As always, we welcome ideas and help in the
planning and running of activities throughout the year. Consult our
Newsletter and/or Website and see what's happened and what's in store
for the future.

President’s
Corner- July
It was a pleasure and uplifting to see many
familiar faces at our first Outdoor Meeting of the Summer despite the
inclement weather. Having the use of the pavilion really helps when
nature comes calling in an unfriendly manner.
July’s meeting will feature a theme of Desert
offerings and anyone attending is encouraged to bring their favorite
desert item(s) for all to sample. We will even judge the best of the
group! So get out those recipes or let your imagination guide your
presentation. It doesn’t have to be exotic…old favorites still
excite most palates, especially those who always love chocolate.
We are always planning activities that we feel you’ll
enjoy. Please consult the Calendar of Events and/or articles describing
the upcoming offerings and dates. There is still a lot of Summer left
for everyone to enjoy.
BILL GIVEN
PRESIDENT'S
CORNER-June
It now seems that Spring is giving way to Summer
and we should all be looking forward to enjoying the out-of-doors and
everything our Great Lake State has to offer us. We have Water Sports,
Camping, Hiking, Biking, Up North, and DTE-Pine Knob to name a few.
The Club Monthly General Meetings for June, July,
and August will be held outdoors (we have a pavilion) at Halmich Park in
Warren. We have been doing this for a few years now and we have had some
good times and some good weather (mostly) making for a fun evening with
fellow members and guests. I sincerely hope that many of you will come
to the meetings and consider bringing some guests.
Our Activities are being planned and are always
shown in the Newsletter and Website.
If there is something(s) any of you would like to do or even run, please
voice you opinion and we will consider and help in the planning. Ski
Trips are in the works and we are gathering information and prices. We
are also working on some group travel to various destinations this
Summer and beyond. We will keep you informed.
As many of us have said in the past, this is YOUR
CLUB. Please feel free to offer any help or suggestions. Ideas and
participation are always welcome and shared.

Presidents Corner - May
Spring is finally here! It has reached the temp of at least 60
degrees here in Michigan. As I write this last Presidents Corner for my
term as President I am looking outside and seeing the bright sun and
blue ski and it makes me sad that this ski season is over. I think back
about the trips this past year and have fond memories of the places and
destinations I had an opportunity to ski. I am looking forward to next
year already.
I would like to take a moment to thank all, of my fellow Board
Members that helped make the last 2 years fun and exciting. I thank them
for all their time and hard work in keeping and managing the club.
Thanks to Tom Richardson for the past 4 years, as Vice President and
Secretary; Karen Roush, Treasurer; Brian DeLeo, Secretary; Gregg Ronan,
Hospitality; Linda Urban, MDSC and Treasurer; Darrell Ahlberg,
Membership; Keith Kazmierczak, Ski Instruction; Alan Urban, Ski Trips;
Alan Toomey, Webmaster. Sue Gibson, Publicity; Special thanks to Bill
Given, Past President and Michael Bourke Newsletter; Patti Given,
Activities; for all their help over the last 4 plus years.
It takes a lot of time and effort to run a club. I would like to
thank all the many people that have stepped forward to help on the Board
and with Activities and Racing over the years that I have been apart of
this club. Thanks!
Looking ahead, I will wish Bill Given our new President, all the best
and I will be there to lend a hand and support.
Michael, do I get a new picture?
Participate and have fun.
Cheers

Presidents Corner - April
Spring is officially here. At least at this writing I believe it's
here. I am writing this column early; because our ski trip to Innsbruck
Austria, is at the usual time we put together the newsletter. We have 45
very excited members going and we are all looking forward to the trip.
Watch next month's newsletter for the article and photos of completed
trip. We will be skiing and touring different areas of Austria.
Watch the website for the full array of photo's. You can see more of
the pictures there from all of our trips this past season. Don't forget
to put in your survey results for the ski trip locations you want to go
to next year, as well as the Scuba destinations. We will be entertaining
a travel trip to possibly Australia next year. Let the Board know if you
like these destinations.
I would like to remind everyone that elections are being held this
month. Don't forget to cast your vote. Supporting the club is an
important part of membership. I would like to take this opportunity to
thank all the Board Members for their efforts this past year and wish
everyone a great summer, fall and upcoming winter ski season.
Participate and have fun.
Cheers

Presidents Corner-January
Happy New Year to all! I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable
holiday season. Welcome to 2004, I think that we are going to have a
great year overall. We are in the midst of our ski season, Lake Tahoe
was a great time and with our Steamboat trip leaving soon there is much
going on. We have room on our Ski on a shoestring weekend and still
accepting names for the wait list on Austria.
I am hoping that we will have our ski and travel destination work
sheet available for you to look at in the February or March newsletter
and choose where you want to go over the next couple of years. We will
be adding Scuba diving trips to the schedule for next year I think that
we are going into an exciting time in our history. We are looking at
expanding our horizons for trips at every time of the season, not just
winter and skiing.
I hope that all of you will take the time to look at these trips and
help us find destinations that you want to see. Last month we had a time
line of where we have been over the last couple of seasons and where we
will be looking at in the very near future. It takes a lot of time to
plan and put these trips together and we do need lead time to plan and
negotiate for the best possible price we can give you. We want to make
the best trips at the best possible prices available to you. We need
your input to help start this process moving, please help us by letting
the Board know where you would like to Ski, Scuba or Travel.
See you at the next meeting.
