The
film "INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS" was a frantic, but
fantastic way to commemorate Halloween. If you were one of the GMer's at
the historic Redford Theatre on October 29th, you would have experienced
the nostalgia of this 1956 science-fiction film about a small-town doctor
who discovers that his family and friends have been taken over by pods
from outer space that replicate humans. Perhaps just a bit reflective of
the post McCarthy Era and the Red Scare of the 1950s. Nobody in our group
won the 50/50 drawing, but we were amused by the creepy cemetary display
and swirling ghost on stage. A bit of the willies with some cold chills
running down our spines, we managed to survive the numerous ghosts,
monsters, and pods from outer space. We were also entertained by Tony
O'Brien at the Barton Theatre Pipe Organ, as he accompanied two additional
silent films: Harold Lloyd in "HAUNTED SPOOKS" and Buster Keaton
in "THE HAUNTED HOUSE." |
