14th
Annual Eastern Market Trip
Can you believe we’ve been doing this for 14
years?
We meet at Vivio’s restaurant at 7 am. (Yes that’s
a.m., as in ante meridian, as in morning. This is a farmers market you
know) for an eye-opening breakfast and perhaps a Bloody Mary or two. Then,
invariably, we scale to the top of R. Hirt Jr. Co. for wicker and kitchen
supplies, followed by the Cost Plus Wine Shoppe where we can, and do, buy
wine by the case.
Don’t get us started on fresh produce. Okay, do
get us started. It’s all you can afford and all you can carry; and we
can carry a lot because we’ve learned to spot our cars at different
locations all over the market. We have friendly competition for best buy
on strawberries by the flat, most exotic roses, biggest shrub, and most
complete veggie assortment. We usually finish at the Rafal Spice Company
(it smells sooo good) and then the Rocky Peanut Company for cashews
(whole, not pieces. They taste better) and a chance to sit down.
If anyone
has any energy left, we head to the marina to cook up some of our
purchases (just the produce, not the roses) and sample some, or all, of
our new wine. Please Join us.
