The GM and Sailing Singles Clubs celebrated a most
glorious four days on Lake Cumberland, Kentucky. Most of the 23 crew had
never attempted such an adventure. The flooded/damned, mountainous,
65-mile long lake delivered 80+ degree, clear swimming water for skiing,
tubing, or just floating on our toys. "Ski Bob" and "Mr.
Noodle" were the most popular.
The two, 64-foot houseboats, named "Kentucky
Palace" and "Yahoo" by us, included two waterslides each,
spas, and air-conditioning. Two of the GM members produced Ski Boats for
added water fun, including fishing and tubing. Some of us skied
incredibly well considering many years since our "best." And
some of us learned how to "boink" while tubing (and liked it).
Kentucky Palace and Yahoo each had an 8-place hot tub
aboard on the upper deck that surely caressed our over-exercised
muscles. This was also a wonderful place for conversing, sunning,
eating, or just viewing the mountainsides. The waterslide competition
was fun. I think the girls beat the boys. What do you think, guys?
The food was healthy and plentiful and prepared by
the best of chefs. Camaraderie made this such an easy and relaxing time.
The jokes flowed, and video exercises helped us stretch out sore muscles
and gather in new energy. Those who could have it…preferred massages.
The last day of our endeavor afforded us an
opportunity to get off the boat to search the steep shelves of shale for
geodes. These are spherical mineral rocks that sometimes have
well-formed crystals inside. They are very difficult to crack apart, so
I think many of us replaced some of the heavy loads we brought with
geode treasures taken home.
Many thanks for the super cooperation and great
friendships gained over these four days. We are looking forward to our
party/picture exchange.
Hugs to all.
