Duties of
The Ski Competition and Ski Racing School Chairperson:
General Meetings:
- Solicit the General Membership at the
General Meeting prior to race season for participation in the race
program. Explain what racing is about, Who? Where? When? How?
- Make announcements at the general
meeting as to the status of the racing team and what success they are
having
- Keep the membership aware through the
general meeting and by submitting articles to the newsletter as to
upcoming events.
- Send out racing and membership
applications, collect fees, and return fees to the Treasurer in a
timely manner
Competition:
- Assure that racers who ski under the GM
Ski Club banner are members in good standing.
- Assist Club racers by organizing
activities between the racers and the race host organization.
- Arrange social gatherings for the Club
racers. Gatherings at the expense of the Club requires prior Board
approval.
- Gain knowledge of all race activities
that would include working with and keeping current with organizations
that are involved with ski racing such as the Metropolitan Detroit Ski
Council (MDSC) and the Michigan Alpine Competition Committee (MACC).
Board Meetings:
- At least one member of the Ski
Competition Committee must attend each Board of Directors meeting
- Provide a complete list of participants
to the Board
- Reports on the outcome of recent races
and the calendar of upcoming events.
- Budgets must be presented in hard copy
to the Board for approval at the monthly Board of Directors meeting
prior to commitment of any Club funds totaling a financial liability
of $100 or more for each project or activity. In the event the timing
of approval should need to proceed the monthly Board Meeting, the
Chairperson is required to seek the approval of the elected Officers
and then other chairpersons such that a majority of the Board of
Directors, which constitutes a quorum, approves the projected budget.
A hard copy of the approved projected budget must be presented at the
next Board Meeting indicating the vote of the quorum.
- Participate in making decisions
necessary for growth of the Club.
- Have one vote on the Board of Directors.
